A New Batch of Bakers Ready to Rise to the Occasion
This year, we've got a fantastic new batch of amateur bakers ready to prove their skills and take on the ultimate baking challenge. From showstoppers to technical challenges, these brave souls will be putting their best sponge, pastry, and dough forward, all in the hopes of being crowned the new series winner.
Meet our new judges and hosts!
- Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith are back to taste and critique every bake, providing invaluable feedback and expertise. - Matt Lucas and Nora Fatehi take over hosting duties, bringing their unique charm and humor to the tent.
What's New in the Tent? A Twist on Classic Challenges
While the core of GBBO remains the same—three challenges, one star baker each week—we're excited to see some fresh twists on classic challenges. Here's a sneak peek at what's in store:
- Week 1: Cake Week - The bakers will kick things off with a signature bake of sandwich cakes, followed by a technical challenge of chiffon cakes. The showstopper? A multi-tiered cake celebration of their heritage. - Week 2: Bread Week - Expect to see sourdough, challah, and focaccia among the bakes. The technical challenge will put the bakers' plaiting skills to the test, and the showstopper is a bread lion to celebrate the Year of the Tiger. - Week 3: Pastry Week - Mille-feuille, quiche, and vol-au-vent are just a few of the pastries that will be making an appearance. The bakers will also tackle a savory pastry tower for their showstopper.
Baking Trends to Expect in the New Series
We've been keeping an eye on the latest baking trends, and we're excited to see some of these making their way into the tent:
- Sustainable Baking - Expect to see bakers incorporating sustainable ingredients and reducing waste in their bakes. - Plant-based Baking - Vegan and plant-based bakes are on the rise, and we can't wait to see what our bakers create without eggs, dairy, or other animal products. - Global Flavors - We're hoping to see some international inspiration in the bakes, from Middle Eastern spices to Asian flavors and beyond.
